Of all the solutions I’ve read about for this hack, this one makes the most sense. My own problems with hacking of many of my sites more or less coincided with a virus infection on one of my workstations – something which nothing I found would remove.

Since then I’ve had sites hacked over and over again. I actually read about this suggestion elsewhere (about the password backdoor virus) and took the plunge and completely reformatted the hdd on the workstation in question. Then went thru the cleanup process, with PW change.

We’ll see if it fixes the problem.

Thanks for posting this, my site kept getting hacked and I could not figure out how. I found a password backdoor program on my computer that my antivirus program did not catch.

I would never have thought about that if I didn’t see this post. I have been ok for 48 hours now so lets cross our fingers and hope this is solved once and for all.

That is correct, there can be other reasons this error message occurs, but in this particular instance, on WordPress Blogs, as we stated in our post, we became aware of the similarities. We were asked for assistance on several blogs that were faced with this particular error. After extensive research we discovered the vulnerabilities and began to recognize a pattern.

We were unable to find a complete explanation online of how to fix this particular situation and realized there may be a need for step by step instructions on how we resolved the issue in this instance.

There’s a lot more reasons than this one why this particular php error might appear – this is just one possibility.

There are more details than that, it does seem to infiltrate some of the plugins as well.. Cforms and WP back up are some of them that we are aware of. It blasts a bunch of code into the top of each page that it infiltrates. We have found the success in overwriting that of all the folders with a clean copy of WP.

The other ones, you can manually delete it out or deactivate the plugins and delete them and use fresh copies.

If you simply overwrite wp files without scanning for these backdoor.bots you will continue to have an issue.

Simply by over-writing the content in your wp-content folder will fix this issue.
